Chords in Spanish and flamenco guitar tend to be very beautiful and the example of
Bulerías we have here is a good case in point.

To illustrate it properly what I like to do is play the same progression in 2 different

ways.

The first time through we use just ordinary major and minor chords.

The second time through we convert those chords into their “Spanish Guitar” equiv-
alents.

This allows us to compare and contrast the two colors together and as you’ll hear the
change is quite dramatic.

It’s important to do this work BEFORE we start to play actual Spanish guitar pieces
so we can better understand the structure underneath the music.
