Division

This pack is designed to help students who are finding their current module (on
Division) too difficult.

The pack brings together sheets from several Cuemath modules that teach
division. These sheets are marked by year and have been carefully chosen to give
the student a chance to experience multiplication the Cuemath way and prepare
them to tackle their current module.

Here’s how we suggest you use this pack.

Refer to the table in the next page.

• Choose the set of worksheets that teaches the ideas of the previous year. (e.g.
if your student is in Year 5, ask them to solve the set marked Year 4.)

• If the student is able to solve these sheets comfortably, ask them to return to
the module they were working on.

• If the student finds the set too difficult, ask them to move to the set marked
one year lower. (In this case, S10–S15, marked Year 3.)

There are notes on some sheets within this pack. We encourage you to refer to
them.
Year 2 A1–A2, S1–S9

Let us represent 6 ÷ 2.
Here, Dividend =   Divisor =

Step 1: Represent 6 (dividend) using six yellow disks and two (divisor) using cups.

Step 2: Place a disk in each cup. Then place another disk in each cup. Repeat this until all six disks
get distributed between the two cups.

Step 3: Number of yellow (ones) disks in each cup =

∴ Quotient = Number formed by disks in each cup =

Let us represent 36 ÷ 2.

Dividend =   Divisor =

Step 1: Represent the dividend, 36, using disks and the divisor, 2, using cups.
Step 2: Divide the tens disks equally between the 2 cups.
Since each cup must have the same number of disks, a tens disk remains to be divided.
Step 3: Trade the tens disk for 10 ones disks. Now you have 16 ones disks in all.
Step 4: Divide all the ones disks equally between the two cups.

∴ Quotient = Number formed by disks in each cup =

Let us represent 72 ÷ 3.
Dividend = 72  Divisor =

Step 1: Represent the dividend, 72, using disks and the divisor, 3, using cups.
Step 2: Divide the tens disks equally between the 3 cups.
Since each cup must have the same number of disks, a tens disk remains to be divided.
Step 3: Trade the tens disk for 10 ones disks. Now you will have 12 ones disks in all.
Step 4: Divide all the ones disks equally between the three cups.

∴ Quotient = Number formed by disks in each cup =
