It is illegal to work on an Electronic Travel Authority. Whilst on an Electronic Travel Authority you have no
right to work in Australia. You may only undertake business visitor activities such as the undertaking of
business enquiries and contractual negotiations or attending conferences.

What you can do on an ETA


You can stay in Australia for up to 3 months on each entry. You can’t work in Australia.
If you stay in Australia for long periods or make frequent visits to Australia, we may ask you about your
travel purpose next time you enter Australia.
If you are found not to be a genuine visitor, or you breach your visa conditions, your ETA may be
cancelled. You may be removed or refused entry to Australia.
