ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students asked what kind of activities they associate with
entertainment. Students explained that That’s Entertainment is the
title of Unit 10. They asked to turn to page 121 to discuss the
picture and its accompanying caption with a partner. Students
encouraged to describe the picture and their reactions to it. Each
pair asked to report their discussion to the rest of the class.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity A(page 122)
1. Students asked to look at the pictures of the four
instruments. Students read out their names. Students
elicited what kind of instrument each one is. Students read
the countries in the yellow word bank and their
pronunciations corrected where necessary.
2. Students explained that they should match each
instrument shown in the pictures with the country it
originates from. Students asked to do the task individually,
but check answers as a class.
Activity B(page 122)
1. Students asked to read the instructions and explained
anything they don’t understand. They asked to skim
through the short texts and to underline any information
about music or instruments. Students asked to do the task
on their own and then to compare their answers with a

that they are better prepared to write the missing words

gaps in the information and think about what words or

note of them in their notebook, so that they can compare

checked.

usually have to describe pictures. Students asked to work
with a partner. One should describe picture A and the
other should describe picture B. Students explained they
should take turns describing their picture to each other.
They should then try to find two similarities and two
differences between the pictures. Each pair asked to
describe their pictures until every pair has had a turn.

possible to complete the sentence so it says what happened when
she wen to the theater. Students asked to look at the picture in the
top right-hand corner of page 130 and they asked what they can
see. Then they asked to work in pairs to discuss why people would
go to the places in the picture.

1. Students asked to read the instructions and answer any
questions they may have. Students explained that the first
word of each sentences is the word with a capital letter,
and that there are no questions.
Activity B(page 130)
1. Students asked to read the instructions and answer any
questions they may have. Students asked to read the first
writing questions and asked who the letter is from.
Students asked what their pen pal is doing in their after-
school club.
2. Students asked to read the second writing question and
asked who has asked them to write a story. Students asked

1. Students reminded that they should always make a plan
for their writing before they begin. They asked to skim
read the letter again and to write the main idea of each
paragraph next to it. Then they asked to compare their
notes to the descriptions in E before writing the paragraph
numbers.

choosing the right question to write about. Students
reminded they should choose the one they can answer the
best rather that the one that might look the easiest.
