Henry County School System Guidelines for School Re-opening and

Precautions
No cases of Covid-19 in the Community
● School operates as usual

Lowest/Lower risk of transmission in schools


● Students attend school as usual
● Multiple safety precautions are initiated to minimize risk to students and staff. These include:
○ Additional hand sanitizing stations (entry points, exit points, buses, high traffic areas)
○ Enhanced distancing in classrooms, cafeteria, hallways, school buses
○ Masking of bus drivers during loading and unloading will be required
o Food service workers will mask during serving
○ Bus seating will be assigned based upon exposure precautions
○ Multiple dining locations will be utilized
○ Safety precautions will be initiated regarding cases or suspected cases
○ Mass assemblies and gatherings will be suspended
● Athletic and extracurricular activities are operating according to TSSAA/TMSAA guidelines
● Masks will be required of students/staff where social distancing can not occur.
● Extra precautions from nursing staff will be implemented for students or staff exhibiting symptoms characteristic of
Covid-19
 Field trips will be limited to local and regional only
● Additional sanitizing of high-touch areas and school buses will occur
Bus passes will be limited to emergency and custody usage only
● Additional precautions will be implemented as necessary

Moderate/Higher risk of transmission in schools


● Remote learning will be offered on an as-needed basis (students on quarantine, those with significant concerns for health,
etc.)
 On-campus activities Will require masks
 On-campus activities WILL require social distancing where possible.
 Field trips will be suspended.
 Teachers and staff will report to schools to deliver online instruction if remote learning is initiated as the predominant
instructional method.
● Daily instruction, even when remote, will mirror the content and amount of time expected during a typical school day.
● Feeding services may be initiated (depending on allowability by TDOE) for remote learners
 Students in grades 5-12 will have an A/B hybrid schedule (alternating remote and in-person learning).
 Extended resource students and students in grades k-4 will be on campus and socially distanced.
 Athletic and extracurricular activities MAY be suspended as the risk level increases. Guidance from TSSAA will be used.
● Additional precautions will be implemented based upon guidance from local/state/federal health officials

Highest risk of transmission in the schools


● Remote learning using Google Classroom and other resources will occur
 In-person instructional offerings may be available for PK-2 and some students in grades 3-8. Additional in-person offerings may be
available in small groups.
 Some students and activities may continue on campus (ESL, therapies, etc.) with temperature checks in place
