Question no 1

How would you explain the nature of the panel interview Maria had to endure?
Specifically, do you think it reflected a well-thought-out interviewing strategy on the part
of the firm or carelessness on the part of the firm’s management? If it were carelessness,
what would you do to improve the interview process at Apex Environmental?

Answer:

The nature of the panel interview is stressful as they conduct stress interview. As an interviewer
of a big company that every genius and brilliant mind want to work, it is obvious that their
interviewing method will be tough for the applicant. There are some reasons that create stress
in the mind of applicant during interview. Firstly, the presence of five members as interviewer
with outstanding minds create some kind of stress to the applicants who have some doubt on
their skill. Further that the presence of President and two vice presidents as the members of
interviewing team, shows the applicants that their method of selecting them is very serious,
they can’t compromise in their selection of people. Seeing this environment only create a stress
to any candidate. With the addition of unrelated question asking to candidate create a stress
even to a genius or confident person.

I consider the scheme of company is well-thought-out interviewing strategy. This is because it

is obvious that the candidates that apply for the job in this firm is skillful and having ability to
provide good work, hence, the main concern for the firm is to check the stress level. As in case
of Maria, she is a mechanical engineer, her work demand interaction with different people of
different minds and thoughts. It is possible to interact with people that can ask irrelevant
question, that may create stress to them. Hence, checking stress level at the starting is very
good method in the interview.
Question no 2

Would you take the job offer if you were Maria? If you were not sure, what additional
information would help you make your decision?

Answer:

As a Maria, is am a bright person that is not even popular but also well informed about
environment and have a great interest in it. It was a dream of Maria to work in Apex
Environmental firm. She may also prepare herself for the interviews in the firm and also built
herself skillful enough to reach the level of this firm. Apex Environmental is such a firm that a
bright student not only want to work here due to her interest but also because it provides a
successful career to its employee. Any person who finds a firm related to their interest will also
know that the firm may conduct difficult interviews. Hence, A skillful person like Maria will
accept the offer. Moreover, after observing the interview, Maria came to know that there is a
purpose of conducting this stress base interview. And if I thought (as a Maria) that it is for
checking mental stability, I will get more convinced about doing work in this firm with more
dedication. Hence, as Maria I will accept the offer.
