COUNT THE COST

TEXT: Luk 14:28 KJV For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth
the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

A. YOU HAVE TO COUNT THE COST WHETHER YOU CHOOSE JESUS OR REJECT HIM
1. When you serve God there is a cost
2. Mar 10:17-22 KJV And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and
kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
(18) And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that
is, God. (19) Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do
not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. (20) And
he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. (21)
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way,
sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and
come, take up the cross, and follow me. (22) And he was sad at that saying, and went away
grieved: for he had great possessions.
3. Mar 10:28-30 KJV Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed
thee. (29) And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath
left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my
sake, and the gospel's, (30) But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses,
and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in
the world to come eternal life.
4. Heb 11:24-27 KJV By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son
of Pharaoh's daughter; (25) Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God,
than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; (26) Esteeming the reproach of Christ
greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the
reward. (27) By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as
seeing him who is invisible.
B. THE COST OF NOT ACCEPTING JESUS.
1. YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED ENEMY OF GOD
Joh 3:36 KJV He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not
the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Eph 5:5-6 GW You know very well that no person who is involved in sexual sin, perversion,
or greed (which means worshiping wealth) can have any inheritance in the kingdom of
Christ and of God. (6) Don’t let anyone deceive you with meaningless words. It is because
of sins like these that God’s anger comes to those who refuse to obey him.

1Th 5:9 KJV For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord
Jesus Christ,

Rom 5:1 KJV Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2. THERE IS NO PEACE
Isa 57:20-21 KJV But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose
waters cast up mire and dirt. (21) There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
Eph 2:13-14 KJV But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by
the blood of Christ. (14) For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken
down the middle wall of partition between us;
Joh 14:27 KJV Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth,
give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
3. THERE IS NO JOY
Psa 16:11 KJV Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy
right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
4. THERE IS HOPE
Pro 24:19-20 ERV Don't let those who are evil upset you, and don't be jealous of them.
(20) They have no hope. Their light will burn out.
Job 11:20 NET But the eyes of the wicked fail, and escape eludes them; their one hope is to
breathe their last.”
Luk 16:22-24 KJV And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels
into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; (23) And in hell he lift up
his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. (24) And
he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip
the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
1Co 15:19 KJV If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
1Th 4:13-17 KJV But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which
are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. (14) For if we believe
that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with
him. (15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and
remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. (16) For the
Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and
with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (17) Then we which are alive
and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:
and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Joh 11:25 KJV Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in
me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
