that they are estimating. Discuss how you could quickly find how many cubes would
fit in each rectangular prism. Have students try to discover the volume formula.

many cubes they used. As they build the rectangular prisms, they will count the
blocks that make up the length, the width, and the height. They will record each
measurement on their recording sheet. See attached.
