Protection human rights today

Today there are many non-profit organizations, in the world, that operate
independently of any governments, the so-called non-governments organization or
NGOs. Some of them are Amnesty International, the International Federation of Red
Cross, Emergency. They work to help people to defend their human rights and
provide material support. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was
adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10th December 1948; the 10th
December 1948 is still the Human Rights Day all over the world. Human Rights are
universal and are freedoms that all people are entitled regardless of Nationality, sex,
national or ethine origin, race, religion or other status.
The Human Rights include the same, political rights such as the rights to life, liberty
and freedom of expression and the social, cultural, economic rights such as the
rights to food, medical care, housing, the rights to work and the right to receive any
education.
Amnesty International (AI):
Amnesty international works in more than 150 countries around the world,
supporting every person of every religion and every political belief.
Their various activities include helping people who are locked up just for expressing
their beliefs but who have not committed any crime; support people who are
trapped in war zones or who are tortured; persuade governments to change unfair
laws and try to stop racism and violence against women.
The symbol of Amnesty International is a candle in a barbed wire. The candle evoke
hopes while the barbed wire symbolizes oppression. This symbol was inspired by a
Chinese proverb: “Better to light a candle than cusse the darkness”.
The Council of Europe
The European council is a body that deals with defending human rights. It is
separate from the European Union but uses the same anthem and the same flag. It
was founded in 1947 and its 47 members aim to develop the principles of equality
and democracy throughout Europe, building on the European Human Rights
Convention.
