| Microscopic evaluation of clove : ’ = Material: Clove consists of the dried Hower buds of Eugenia caryophyllus Thumb., belonging to the family Myrtaceae, = Geographical Source: Clove tree is a native of Indonesia and is cultivated mainly in Islands of Zanzibar, Pemba, Brazil, Amboiana, and Sumatra. - Cultivation and Collection: Clove tree is evergreen and 10 to 20 m in height. The plant requires @ moist, warm, and equable climate with well-distributed rainfall. - Characteristics: Clove is reddish-brown in color, with an upper crown ond a hypanthium. The hypanthium is sub-cylindrical and tapering at the end. NG \ - Microscopie Features: The hypanthium has schizolysigenous oil glands and an ovary which is bilocular. ~ < - Crown Region: The Crown region consists of the calyx, corolla, style, and stamens. = Odour and Taste: Clove hos a strong spicy, aromatic odor, and pungent and aromatic taste - Exhausted Cloves: The exhausted cloves are those from which volatile oil is either partially or completely removed by distillation = Microscopic Analysis: Microscopy is useful for the study of the internal structure, constitution, and inclusions of plant cells or other objects in detail. - Histological Features: Size, shape, relative position of different cells and tissues as well as the chemical nature of the cell walls, and the form and nature of cell contents are considered during microscopic analysis of crude drugs. $ ‘a
