Júlia Rapachi

Have you ever heard a song and immediately another music has come in
your mind? It is common to have different songs with the same meaning, even if
they are from two different countries. This is what happens in the Brazilian song
“Cuida bem dela”, by Henrique and Juliano, and “When I was your man”, by the
American Bruno Mars.
It is in the meaning of the music that the two songs resemble each other
most. Both focus on the regret of a man, since he hadn’t realized the girl he had
by his side and lost her. Now, feeling heartbroken, both express everything they
could have done and what is expected for the new person to do in order to
make her pleased.
“When I was your man” differs from “Cuida bem dela” in the melody.
Despite the fact that they are composed in two different languages; the Bruno
Mars’ song can be considered a pop music genre, while the one from Henrique
and Juliano has a country style. In addition, in “When I was your man”, the
composer makes it clear that the relationship has come to an end because of
his fault, which in “Cuida bem dela” it is not obvious.
Choosing the best song between these two depends on some factors:
Should you are Brazilian, “Cuida bem dela” will be your favorite or should you
are into pop, “When I was your man” will be your number one. Whereas, as a
Brazilian who has English as my second language, Bruno Mars’ song is my
preferred.
