Student Instructions
Create a Story Element Wheel that showcases your strong understanding of each
story element.
Carefully read the project rubric so you know exactly what to include in each section
of the story wheel.
Your description of each story element should be based on details from your text.
Preparation Instructions
I’ve included a circle template for you to print for your students if you’d like. The
larger the circle the better! I suggest enlarging the circle when making copies.
Another option is to uses butcher paper. You’ll see the step by step process I follow to
create large circles for my students to use.

Title
● The title and author are boldly, clearly, creatively,
and colorfully displayed
Characters
● All major characters are represented with a
character trait and short description
● An accurate, neat, and colorful illustration is
included
Setting
● Main setting(s) are represented with a short
description

included
Conflict
● Main conflict is described with text evidence
● Illustration represents the conflict
● Illustration is accurate, neat, and colorful
Plot
● The most important parts of the beginning, middle,
and end summarized using 3-5 sentences
● Each section is represented by an illustration or
symbol
● Illustration is accurate, neat, and colorful
Theme
● An accurate theme of the story is written
● Writing/font is creative or a picture is included
● Words/illustration is accurate, neat, and colorful
Creativity/Quality
● It is clear time was taken to make the project
unique
● Work shows that the student took their time and
went above and beyond
