Pad Foundation Assembly Details
The Gin Pole Tower assembly has two foundation blocks;
• Main foundation block 3m x 3m x 1.2m – Concrete Volume 10.8m3
• Winch anchor block 1.5m x 1.5m x 1m – Concrete Volume 2.25m3
• Concrete to be grade C25/30 to BS EN206-1 and BS8500-2
The main foundation block consists of high
strength concrete with 12 x M30 x 1m HT screwed
rods for tower support and 8 x M20 x 500mm
screwed rods for hinge support anchors. Some
reinforcing steel work is also required and should
be formed as detailed. The screwed rod assembly
should be tied to the rebar cage using standard tie
methods.

The anchor block uses the same high strength

concrete in which is set a dual anchor rods.
These rods are fitted with M30 Eye Nuts for
connection to winch equipment.

Pad Foundation Assembly Details

The foundation kits is supplied flat packed and consists of the steel works as below.
It will need to be assembled within the rebar cage and securely tied off.

Kits consists of:

1 x Top setting plate
1 x Lower ring plate
2 x Hinge Anchor plates
12 x M30 x 1m HT Screwed Rods
84 x M30 Nuts
24 x Form G washers
8 x M20 x 500mm HT Screwed Rod
40 x M20 Nuts
16 x Form F Washers

The blocks are positioned in line with a separation distance of 15m centre to centre.

Concrete cover to reinforcement to be minimum 50mm top and 75mm bottom and sides.

The foundation is based on the presumptive soil parameters.

A minimum allowable soil bearing pressure of 100kN/M2 is required for pad foundations.
It is assumed that ground water is not present within the depth of the foundation.
You should allow plenty of time for the foundation to set and harden fully before erecting
the turbine. We recommend a hardening period of approximately 2 weeks. For this
reason, foundations are normally prepared in advance of main installation. Note that the
hardening time may be lengthened by poor weather conditions. We recommend the use of
experienced groundworks contractors.

Please ensure the studs are set as below.
Ensure the steel work is level and secure before concrete is poured.
M20 STUD – 130mm +/-10mm M30 STUDS – 190mm + 10mm – 0mm

Considerations must be made for anchor point position and the fall of the
tower which is away from anchor point position. The turbine will fall 15m
away from tower hinge point and the head will be approximately 30m away
from the anchor block.
