Q1. Di erence between manufacturing
operations & service operation ?

Manufacturing operations excellence focuses on producing uniform,

reliable, and high-quality products. Service Operations, on the other hand,
refer to the provision of intangible services to customers. The focus of
service operations is on delivering personalized and customized
experiences to customers while ensuring quality and consistency of service
delivery.

Q2. De ne Method study ?

Method study is the process that speci es the methods and activities
considered in a job through an operations chart and eliminates unnecessary
elements of operations to obtain the fastest and the best method of
performing a speci c job.

Q3. Any two Techniques of Quality

improvement ?

Continuous improvement
sometimes called continual improvement, is the ongoing improvement of products,
services or processes through incremental and breakthrough improvements. These
efforts can seek "incremental" improvement over time or "breakthrough"
improvement all at once.

Control chart
A control chart is a graph that displays trends, shifts, or patterns in the output ofa
process over time. These charts allow you to identify the stability and predictability of
the process and identify whether the process is under control.

as further formulated below

Q5. De ne Kanban system of inventory

management ?
Kanban (Japanese for sign) is an inventory control system used in just-in-
time (JIT) manufacturing to track production and order new shipments of
parts and materials. Kanban was developed by Taiichi Ohno, an industrial
engineer at Toyota, and uses visual cues to prompt the action needed to
keep a process owing

Q6. Re order level

Reorder level is the stock level of a speci c product and reorder quantity
is the number of units to be ordered while placing a new purchase order.
Calculating inventory reorder points helps with the reduction in inventory
Cost, reduces stockouts, and improves forecasting.

Q7. Capacity planning decision

Capacity planning is long-term decision that establishes a rm's overall
level resources. It extends over a time horizon long enough to obtain
resources. Capacity decisions affect the production lead time, customer
responsiveness, operating cost and company ability to compete.

Q8. six sigma in operations management ?
Six Sigma in operations management is a set of tools and techniques
used in process improvement. Its primary purpose is to reduce variability
and waste in processes and improve the output's quality. Six Sigma
contains tools and techniques used to identify and quantify sources of
variation and to nd and implement solutions to eliminate them. The
ultimate goal is to achieve near-perfect quality in all processes.

Q9. Inventory control policies ?

Product Layout
A product layout, also known as “line layout”, arranges production resources
around the product or service produced by that resource. That is, the resources are

What is a Hybrid Layout?

Hybrid layouts place together resources which service a subset of the total range of
