WARP Dry OB

WARP Dry OB* additive is a specially treated high-quality micronized

barite used as a weighting agent for applications in oil-base drilling and
completion fluids.
WARP Dry OB additive is a complimentary dry additive to WARP Fluids Technology with similar performance characteristics as the
WARP Oil-Base Concentrate.

Typical Physical Properties

Physical appearance.............................................................................................................................................................................White, cream powder

Specific gravity..........................................................................................................................................................................................................3.9 – 4.1 kg/l

Particle size..........................................................................................................................................................................................................D90 < 5 Microns

Applications
WARP DRY OB additive is compatible with all base fluid types. The extremely small particle size enables low rheology non-aqueous
fluids (NAF) to be formulated with considerably reduced risk of barite sag and settlement compared to fluids formulated with API drilling
grade barite.

Developed primarily as a dry additive to increase the mud weight of high-density NAFs formulated with WARP Oil-Base Concentrate,
WARP DRY OB additive also can be used as a standalone weighting agent and is especially suited to lower density applications.

Potential applications include:

■■ Through tubing rotary drilling
■■ Horizontal or extended reach drilling
■■ Reservoir drilling fluids
■■ Narrow mud weight windows
■■ High Temperature High Pressure Drilling
■■ Casing running and cementing fluids
■■ Arctic drilling
■■ Wells with a high risk of barite sag/settlement
■■ Coiled tubing drilling
■■ Slim hole drilling
■■ Kill pills, logging and testing fluids
■■ High density spacers
■■ Packer fluids
■■ Casing pressure kill fluids
Advantages
■■ Total well control management
• Minimal annular density variation
• Low swab-surge pressures
• Lower ECDs than conventional NAFs
■■ Optimized hydraulics
• LWD/MWD and bit performance
• Higher ROPs
• Extended lateral reach
■■ Reduced drilling & completion cost
• Reduced downhole losses
• Reduced discharge volumes and consumption rates

Benefits compared to API Barite

■■ Reduced plastic viscosities and yield point for improved ECD management
■■ Reduced pump pressure for the same flow rate
■■ Very low settlement and sag potential
■■ Allows finer shaker screens to be used, as fine as 500 mesh at full flow rate in reservoir sections for improved solids removal
efficiency
■■ Flow through narrow apertures in completion hardware
■■ Torque and drag reduction
■■ Lower discharge volumes and reduced environmental impact

Toxicity and Handling

Cannot be used in China, Japan or Korea. There are no special handling requirements for WARP Dry OB additive.

Normal safety protective equipment should be worn observing the precautions described on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
Dust masks should be worn while discharging WARP Dry OB additive. For other environmental performance data please contact
environmental affairs.

Limitations
The dry material cannot be conveyed pneumatically.

Packaging and Storage

WARP Dry OB additive is packaged in 2,000 lb big bags. Big bags handling facilities need to be available for onsite rig use.

Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. Keep container closed. Store away from incompatibles. Follow safe warehousing practices
regarding palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping and/or stacking.
