—Note to parents This handwriting book follows on from Begin to Write Book 1. It is designed to give practice in all writing patterns and letter shapes leading to actual writing. The entertaining exercises and practice pages introduce the letters in groups or ‘letter families’ (for example, all letters with tails or all letters that sit on the line.) Always give your child plenty of time to Practise each new letter shape thoroughly before going on to the next page, All the exercises can be repeated again and again on scraps of paper if your child is enjoying learning to write. Practising writing patterns and letter shapes will help your child to develop the hand and eye movement and stamina essential for fluent handwriting. There are further books in the Ladybird Learning at Home range: Writing and I Can Write (4+). These books continue the development of handwriting skills and cover lower case and capital letters.
