SUBJECT: GRANT-IN-AID TO PTAs OF GOVERNMENT AND AIDED PRIMARY SCHOOLS


Financial Year 2022 - 2023

As you are aware, the following Grants-in-Aid are payable to registered PTAs of Government and
Aided Primary Schools excluding Z.E.P Schools:
(i) Per Capita grant Rs 3 for each pupil on roll as at 11 March 2022.
(to meet expenses incurred in connection with Independence Day Celebrations)
(ii) Basic grant One-stream school Rs 2,000
Two-stream school Rs 2,500
Three-stream school Rs 3,000
(to meet the cost of minor repairs)
(iii) Matching grant One-stream school Up to Rs 10,000
Two-stream school Up to Rs 12,000
Three-stream school Up to Rs 15,000
(to meet the cost of minor maintenance and improvement of the school and its facilities.
Priority is given for the purchase of library books, water tanks, etc.)

2. Applications for the grants should be made as follows:


(i) Per Capita & Basic grants - On application form as at ANNEX A
(ii) Matching grant - On application form as at ANNEX B & B(1)
3. You may wish to note that PTAs would be eligible to benefit from Government Grants if the
following conditions are met:
(i) The PTAs are fully registered with the Registrar of Associations;
(ii) They produce audited accounts showing evidence that the funds have been used for the
benefit of the school; and
(iii) The accounts would be available for verification by the Ministry as and when required.

4. Application forms duly filled in should be submitted to the Ag. Director at latest by 20 July
2022.

5. The treasurer of your PTA should be advised to prepare and be ready to produce all documents
(cash book, receipts – originals and photocopies, Bank Statement Account, etc.) for verification by
officers of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology as from 17 August
2022.

6. It is imperative to strictly adhere to the deadlines. Late requests may not be entertained.
