WORSHIP
Prepare Praise and Worship for the Homecell gathering (1 Praise & 1 Worship song)

WORD

Prayerless people are powerless people! Failing in prayer will ensure failure
everywhere!
Ps At Boshoff

QUESTION 1: Our goal this past week was to set a specific time and place to intentionally
spend time in prayer. How did this past week go? Were you able to keep to your
commitment? What did you learn/discover this week that will help you make prayer a priority
in your life?

Ask a few homecell members to read Matthew 6:6, Mark 1:35, Mark 6:46, Luke 6:12 &
Luke 5:16

QUESTION 2: Jesus, when He taught His disciples to pray, said they had to go into their
room and shut the door. From His own life we see that He always went to a quite place. Why
would you say is this an important principle to keep in mind when it comes to our prayer-life?

Last week we started to look at some reasons why prayer is so important. Let’s recap:

1. PRAYER HELPS YOU DEVELOP YOUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH

GOD
2. PRAYER HELPS YOU GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING OF GOD’S LOVING,
MERCIFUL NATURE
3. PRAYER HELPS YOU FIND ANSWERS IN LIFE

Let’s continue and look at another 3 reasons why prayer is so important in our life:

4. PRAYER GIVES YOU THE STRENGTH AND THE WISDOM YOU NEED TO
AVOID TEMPTATION

Ask a few cell members to read Matthew 26:40-41, Luke 11:4 & Galatians 5:16

QUESTION 5: What’s your personal experience when it comes to prayer and the power to
resist temptation? How does prayer practically empower us to resist temptation?
Answer: Prayer increases your spiritual awareness and discernment. Prayer also
gives you the power to overcome and to live free from satan’s deceit and
lies.

Prayer keeps you connected to the grace of God and to the power of the Holy Spirit.
Ps At Boshoff

5. PRAYER KEEPS YOU IN ALIGNMENT WITH GOD’S WILL

Ask a cell member to read Matthew 26:39

QUESTION 6: This is probably one of the most profound verses in the whole Bible. What
can we learn from this prayer Jesus prayed?

Answer: Jesus came to a place where He struggled to follow through on His

Father’s will. Submitting to His Father’s will was about to cost Him His life!
This prayer of consecration superseded His fear of death. It is only as we
continue to pray this prayer of consecration that we will fulfill our Father’s
will in our lives and enable Him to guide us into His plans and purposes for
our lives.

Psalms 32:8-9 The Passion Translation

8-9 I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the

pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your
guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been
before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!”

6. PRAYER CAN WORK MIRACLES IN YOUR LIFE

Ask a few cell members to read Mark 9:23 & Matthew 7:7-11

Ask a few cell members to share a testimony of how prayer evoked a miracle in their life
and/or situation.

Our God is still a Way-maker, a Miracle-worker, a Promise-keeper!

WORKS

James 5:14-15 New King James Version

14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray

over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save
the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Take a few minutes tonight to pray specifically for those in your homecell who are sick. Allow
the homecell members to lay their hands on those who are sick. Anoint those who are sick
with oil. Pray the prayer of faith. Trust God to stretch out His hand and heal those who are
sick!
