1. What Is Represented in
The Picture?
It’s one of the first
pictures I took in
London, it was London
Pride parade. For me it
represented how you
can be free to be
yourself in London! You
can wear what you like
and perform what you
like in this city. This
guy’s gendered identity
is not biologically
determined
but constructed. He acts
as himself and represent
himself.
(Shuxun Yan)
2. Why the
Picture is
important to you?
I was very impressed by
this cover of magazine
that I found in London.
Because it was impossible
for such publications to
appear in the environment
where I used to live. The
most impressive thing
about London is freedom,
like the cover of this
magazine, like people
dressed differently on the
street. Every life is
different, no one will tell
you what fashion is, what
you have to do, be
yourself is fashion.
(Ying Zhang )
3. How do you think the
fashion that Londoners
choose define their
personality? How do you think
the fashion you wear in
London define your
personality? How different that
from the fashion you wear in
your country?
(Fei)
Our Notes on Ethic in Research
So we use the photo of ourselves or ask our friend's photo with the
consent. Even if it is an informal consent - by only asking their
permission by the chat in Whatsapp group, not in a formal form. It is a
simple example of practicing consent as a part of ethics in research
design. In this case, our friend consent to participating in our research
with the theme 'fashion in London' by allowing us to use their photo. We
explained our research process and they understood with it so they
agree we use their photos. ***
