Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

For the personal case analysis, I am choosing the company known as Banfield Pet
Hospital. Internal role. How the veterinary shortage is affecting the quality of care
provided.

Describe how the structure of the organization influenced the situation.

Banfield Pet Hospital is a corporate veterinary office. Currently there are not enough
veterinaririans graduating to replace previous veterinarians. Veterinarians take on a lot of
student loan debt and do not get paid high salaries. Most people in the United States who
own animals, own more than one pet. One veterinarian is seeing multiple pets per
household. Poor reviews of the company keep staff from wanting to work for the
company. Veterinay field has a high burnout rate as well as a high suicide rate.

2) Recommend how you would use structure for an alternative course of action
regarding your case.

If I were to build a structure to improve the course of action regarding my case I would
start by builing a plan of action for future veterinarians. I would encourage if people
wanted to become a veterinarian to recommend voulenterring or working at an animal
hospital to understand what a day in the life of a veterinarian is like. Maybe have a future
veterinarian meet a current veterinarian and ask questions. I think education is important,
I really think that before deciding on your future that you know for sure in your heart it is
your passion and what you truly want. College is ridiculously expensive and veterinarians
take out large student loan debts in order to become veterinarians. Ensuring that a person
understands being crippled and cuffed by student loan debt well until after they
retirement that they will be okay.

 3) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

4) If I were to build a structure to improve the course of action regarding my case I would
start by builing incentives to become a veterinarian. Start offering veterinary classes in
high school. Encouraging future veterinarians to apply for government grants and trying
to obtain every scholarship possible. I would try to have more than one veterinarian
working in a day for collaboration purposes. Making sure that the veterinarian is getting
his or her scheduled lunches and or breaks. Controlling the schedule to ensure the
veterinarian is not overwhelmed.
