Abstract
Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world. Most injuries are located in the lower extremities. The comparison of injury
data revealed an injury incidence of 2 to 9,4 per 1000 hours of exposure. Joint sprains predominated, followed by fractures, muscle
strains, ligament ruptures, meniscal tears and contusions. Injuries to the knee were most prevalent, followed by injuries to the ankle
and thigh. More injuries occurred during competition than in training. Among injury risk factors, this systematic review show that
information is incomplete and sometimes contradictory. The aim of this study was to analyze the literature on the incidence of
injuries and symptoms in football players, as well as to identify injury risk factors.
