WRITING PRACTICE SECTION

Welcome to the Writing Section of this CPR Murcia C1 English Blended-Learning

Intensive Course.

You have registered to devote 30 hour practice to improve your writing skills in order to
take the C1 EOIMurcia certificate tests in May-June 2020.

In this document you will find all the information you might need to guide you in this
blended writing module of the course.

We encourage you to read this document carefully before sitting down to carry out your
tasks.

Do not hesitate to contact your teachers via email if you happen to have any doubt about
your assignments. We will not only be in charge of evaluating your progress during the
course, but notice that you may contact us whenever you feel the need of guidance
about your writing learning process.

General info

● Understanding what production and coproduction of written texts are

“En la tarea de ​producción de textos escritos el candidato produce, como autor, un

texto dirigido a uno o más lectores, por ejemplo, formularios, cuestionarios, artículos
(para revistas, periódicos, boletines informativos…), informes, notas, cartas o correos
electrónicos, etc.

En la tarea de ​coproducción de textos escritos se pedirá que el candidato realice

un intercambio de información por escrito que puede ser, entre otros, de los
siguientes tipos, dependiendo del nivel: notas o memorandos cuando la interacción
hablada es inapropiada, intercambio de cartas o correos electrónicos, acuerdos,
 contratos, participación en redes sociales, foros y otros espacios de información
online.

En cuanto a la longitud de los textos a producir por los candidatos, el número de

palabras ​entre las dos tareas ​será para el nivel Avanzado C1: entre 350 y 400
palabras”

● Understanding written mediation

“Esta parte mide la competencia del candidato en la mediación oral y escrita

(reformular y transmitir información de manera adecuada, comprensible y relevante,
para lo que el candidato habrá de resumir, sintetizar, parafrasear o interpretar dicha
información a partir de una situación contextualizada).

La parte de mediación escrita constará de una tarea que podrá ser intralingüística:
entre distintos códigos de la misma lengua o interlingüística: entre dos lenguas
distintas.

Los tipos de tareas que los candidatos podrán encontrar en la prueba de ME son los
siguientes: Transmitir información específica. Explicar datos (gráficos, diagramas,
tablas). Procesar un texto. Traducir un texto escrito. Tomar notas (conferencias,
seminarios, reuniones). Expresar una respuesta/reacción personal ante un texto
creativo. Analizar y comentar textos artísticos (incluida la literatura)”

“Instrucciones y descripciones detalladas de planes y proyectos; descripciones

complejas sobre personas y aspectos de su entorno; informes sobre temas
complejos de interés personal o profesional; trabajos académicos especializados
(redacciones, resúmenes, informes, argumentaciones, ensayos…); notas y mensajes
relacionados con las actividades de trabajo, estudio y ocio; correspondencia formal e
informal sobre ámbitos personales y profesionales; chistes; entradas en redes
sociales, foros y otras plataformas online sobre temas de cierta complejidad;
artículos, ensayos e informes sobre temas complejos o de actualidad; relatos de
cierta extensión y complejidad, reseñas detalladas de libros y película”

❏ ​Writing Module: instructions and planning.

In this Writing Module, you will be required to carry out ​9 different written
assignments ​so as to practise a selection of production, coproduction of
written texts and written mediation samples.

You will be asked to submit a written task ​per week in the writing section in
https://teleformacion.murciaeduca.es/ following the scheduled calendar and
deadlines. The documents are ​not​ to be sent by email.

The topics of the assignments will not necessarily follow the planning of the
face-to-face lessons.

All the assignments will have a start and due date for submission. Students
are asked to stick to the dates.

Students are expected to use original content and avoid plagiarism.

You will be asked to check your writing teachers’ comments and evaluation.

Should any task(s) not comply with the minimum evaluation standards, the
students will be asked to retake them.

All the assignments will be evaluated with a writing correction code and
comments, whenever required.

Weekly tasks

This is a step-by-step description of your weekly tasks.

★ Preparation stage ​(60’ aprox)

○ Read your weekly assignment in TELEFORMACIÓN
○ Check the given sample and tips
■ Prepare a list of ideas, appropriate vocab, useful
grammar structures and cohesive devices.
■ Look for further samples or extra ideas in the online
reference section, if necessary.
 ★ Writing stage ​(60’ approx)
○ Write your draft.
○ Try to stick to a limited time to get used to the timing you will
be allowed in the C1 written test (May 21st EOIMurcia).

★ Proofreading stage (20’ approx)

○ Devote some time to thoroughly revise your piece of writing.
○ Use the given writing checklist to help you focus.

★ Submit your final version in TELEFORMACIÓN (10’)

★ Check your teacher’s comments on your previous assignment and

contact her if you have any doubts on her evaluation (10’).
