OBJECTIVES:
• To define and differentiate the four elements of voice
• To develop a voice with quality, loudness, pitch, and rate
• To read and sing appropriately using the four elements of voice

Procedure:
How do you describe your voice?

ACTIVITIES:
Quality - Prepare current news and read 5-7 sentences of it in your real voice and once
with your 'newscaster' voice.
Loudness: Read each line with appropriate softness/loudness.
1. Help me!
2. Shhh! The baby is sleeping.
3. The building is on fire!
4. Keep quiet inside the library.
5. Don't cry, it's alright.
6. Silence please, there's an ongoing mass.
7. Happy Birthday, Christine!
8. Please turn off your phones during the musical play.
9. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
10. I am sorry.
Pitch: Sing “Row Row Your Boat” and identify which part has high/low pitch.
Rate: Sing a verse of your favorite rap song. (or) You can also sing the first verse of the
song "Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj.

Summary: The four elements of voice are important in delivering speech, reading
stories, acting, singing, or other performance as such. Practicing loudness, pitch, and
rate will help you improve the quality of your voice.

Assignment: Read your favorite Children’s short story in a way that you can deliver the
four elements of voice. Make sure to bring out the quality of your voice!
