• The emergence of “management” as a formal business discipline with its own body of scholarly work
and a wide array of professional activities among educators, researchers and others.

• The notion that management is just “common sense” and “cannot be taught” has been replaced by a
complex model of formal education and that produces graduates who have completed a curriculum
that spans a wide range of sub-topics.
• Today, integration of management skills into the local population is seen as essential to potential
prosperity for developing countries.
