The Glorious Mysteries

What does Jesus teach us in these mysteries?

1. The First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection

The Fruit of the Mystery is Faith
After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene
came with the other Mary to inspect the tomb. Then the angel spoke, addressing
the women, “Do not fear, I know that you are looking for Jesus, the crucified
but He is not here. He has been raised! Exactly as He promised. Then go
quickly and tell His disciples: He has been raised from the dead, and now goes
ahead of you to Galilee, where you will see Him. (Mt 28:1, 5-7)
That all families could be Galilee:
“The Lord’s presence dwells in real and concrete families, with all their daily
troubles and struggles, joys and hopes. If that authenticity is inspired by love,
then the Lord reigns there, with his joy and his peace. The spirituality of family
love is made up of thousands of small but real gestures. In that variety of gifts
and encounters which deepen communion, God has his dwelling place.” (AL
315).
* What is our family like? What characterizes it? What do we like to do
together?
May our family be a light and a beacon for the world, so that all will see in
us the love of the Risen Christ.

2. The Second Glorious Mystery: The Ascension
The Fruit of the Mystery is Hope
Jesus approached them and said to them: Go and teach all peoples, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to observe all that I have commanded them. I will be with you always,
even to the end of time.” (Mt 28:18-20)
That all families may have the courage to bear and live the Gospel values.
It is important that people experience the Gospel of the family as a joy that fills
hearts and lives because in Christ we have been set free from sin, sorrow, inner
emptiness, and loneliness. As in the parable of the sower, we are called to help
sow seeds; the rest is God’s work. (AL 200).
* How do we think other people see us? Would they be able to see that we love
each other by the way we treat each other?
May our family rise above petty disputes and past misunderstandings so
that we will live in hope of the life to come.
Our Father who art in Hail Mary, full of grace,

3. The Third Glorious Mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit

The Fruit of the Mystery is Wisdom and Love of God
When the day of Pentecost came it found them together in one place. Tongues
as of fire appeared, which parted and came to rest on each of them (Acts 2:1, 3-
4).
That all Christian families might be filled with the gifts and the fruits of the
Holy Spirit.
Led by the Spirit, the family circle is not only open to life by generating it
within itself but also by going forth and spreading life by caring for others and
seeking their happiness. When a family is welcoming and reaches out to others,
especially the poor and the neglected, it is a symbol, a witness, and a participant
in the Church’s motherhood. The family lives its spirituality precisely by being
at one and at the same time a domestic church and a vital cell for transforming
the world. (AL 324).
* Who are the first to come to our aid when our family is faced with
difficulties? How do they help?
As the Spirit abides in us, may we be faithful in proclaiming the message of
Jesus in our lives.
Our Father who art in heaven, Hail Mary, full of grace, the

The Fruit of the Mystery is Devotion to Mary
"Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin,
when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul
into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things so that she
might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror
of sin and death." The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular
participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of
other Christians. (CCC 966)
May we, one day, be united with Mother Mary and all our loved ones in the
eternal home prepared for us by Jesus.
The treasury of Mary’s heart also contains the experiences of every family,
which she cherishes. For this reason, she can help us understand the meaning of
these experiences and hear the message God wishes to communicate through
the life of our families.” (AL 30).
* We remember events and places that are important to our family history.

5. The Fifth Glorious Mystery: The Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Fruit of the Mystery is Eternal Happiness
A great sign appeared in the heavens: a woman dressed in the sun, with the
moon beneath her feet and a crown of twelve stars above her head (Rev 12, 1).
That we might crown Our Mother, Queen of all families, with love within
our family.
“A family’s living space could turn into a domestic church, a setting for the
Eucharist, the presence of Christ seated at its table”. It is in this way that a
house that carries within it the presence of God, the Word of God, common
prayer, and, therefore, the blessing of the Lord is defined. (AL 15)
May we and our loved ones share in her happiness one day.

Introduction: Pope Francis said, prayer is the breath of faith, a cry arising from
the hearts of those who trust in God. Let us pray for all families, especially
those who might be experiencing difficulties, and all the intentions of our
family members.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;

and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy
Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,
died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; on the third day He rose again
from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God,
the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the
dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of
saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Conclusion: Let us pray for all the families of the world and the intentions of
our own families. Let our response be, LORD hear our prayer.

1. For all who have lost loved ones, and especially for parents of a child who
was miscarried, aborted or stillborn, that they will find peace in the promise of
the Resurrection. R.

2. For all who struggle with addictions, through Christ's triumph and ascent into
glory, they may triumph over their temptations, and gain strength and peace.
3. That the Holy Spirit will open the minds and hearts of those who now reject
the Gospel of Life and allow them to be convinced of the truth and goodness of
all that the Church professes concerning human life.

4. For mothers who have died at the hands of abortion providers, they may
experience reconciliation and together with their children know God's peace.

5. For married couples, that they might come to know the gift of their vocation.
