Is Pakistan ready to incorporate Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a technology that aims to make machines and computers
capable of performing tasks like the human brain. It analyzes human brain functions
and implements those traits in machines to enhance their functionality. AI has
significant applications in various industries, including education, medicine and
healthcare, and entertainment and media. In education, AI helps detect plagiarism,
automates tasks, and provides AI tutors for students. In medicine and healthcare, AI
assists in diagnosis, robotic surgeries, and therapy for mental illnesses. Likewise, the
entertainment and media industries benefit from AI in marketing and advertising,
graphic design, animations, and search optimization. Therefore, the future of AI holds
promises like self-driving cars, advanced medical care, reduced workloads for teachers,
and more human-like robots. While AI has made advancements globally, Pakistan has
made progress in certain areas of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
However, there is still a long way to go to fully incorporate AI into various sectors.
Currently, there are efforts to develop AI systems in Pakistan, such as a COVID risk
calculator and research centers focused on AI applications. Yet, the adoption of AI in
fields like healthcare and agriculture is still lacking and requires technological
advancements. To catch up with global advancements in AI, Pakistan needs to prioritize
AI education, invest in research and development, and apply AI technologies to solve
pressing issues in the country. Overall, Pakistan has the potential to make significant
strides in AI, but more concerted efforts and investments are needed to fully embrace its
benefits.
