1. Introduction

Technology is rapidly integrating into our lives. Nowadays, it is possible to see your little

brother with an iPad or even your grandfather with a smart TV. The educational field is not

immune to these massive changes that technology is bringing to our lives. Many kids learn

how to use YouTube even before learning how to write on paper. Many schools are unsure

how to cope with these changes. The reality is that nowadays, the side effects of the

technological era are becoming evident. According to psychologists from well-recognized

universities such as Washington State University, problems such as phone addiction outweigh

the benefits for students. It is true that many people can link the use of technology with

academic achievements, but the reality is that the phone represents a distraction for students

and can affect the development of concentration skills. This dependence on the phone can

lead to other problems, such as the lack of social interactions. Humans are social beings, and

it is scientifically proven that technology cannot fulfill the human necessity to socialize with

others. Especially in the early stages of life, it is vital to provide good learning tools for

students. This means that teaching how a plant grows with a video would be considerably less

effective for learning than allowing kids to grow one themselves. Our team has analyzed four

main points: Academic purposes, lack of social interactions and learning environment. We

will use these points to demonstrate why the use of technology should be restricted for

students in order to ensure a good learning process for them.

2. Academic Purposes – unfavorable to concentration

3. Lack of social interaction

4. Learning environment (biology, chemistry – experiments)

5. Lack of opportunities (Guidance from the internet is different from real counselors. It

isn’t entirely similar.)

6. Conclusion

Possible objections

1. Convenience – searching, writing, drawing.

 They don’t really engage in the materials (but it’s more distracting)

 The chances don’t mean the students will pay more attention.

2. Practicality (accessible information so that they can catch up on the lessons they

missed)

 Lack of guidance (personally)

 A teacher’s excuse for the over-reliance of technology

 Learning games can be an option, but not the main method for studying.

 It should be interactions between people (PBL sessions)

3. Affordability – it extends the inequality gap.
