A) Frame 8) Engraved anifox C) Rubber roller D) Weights 1. Pre-cut the substrate to size. Substrate width should be appx 150mm and its length can be up to ‘a maximum of 800mm. 2. Place the substrate on a smooth, flat bench top (a glass top bench is ideal) and secure one end. 3. Select the rubber and engraved (anilox) rollers to be used. 4. Install the rubber roller into the frame slots. Drop in from the top then move to the forward position. With one hand, hold the K Lox as shown in the illustration below so that the thumb can exert steady pressure between the rubber (printing) roller and the substrate. 7. Position the K Lox near the fixed end of the substrate. Before adding ink it is recommended to do a dry run to practice the movement and pressure. 8. With the other hand, apply a bead of ink between the rollers and immediately draw the K Lox along the substrate at a steady speed and while applying pressure with the thumb. rw Hint Applying the ink. itis important to apply the right amount of ink, this will vary with the volume of the anilox and viscosity. Typically, approximately Sml is recommended between ‘the marked area in this picture. 31Page RK PrintCoat Instruments Ltd and KLox issue 4 | Jan 2019 ww skprint comKk SOLVENTS ‘The rubber rollers are covered with E.P.D.M. rubber (50°shore hardness) which has an excellent resistance to cellosolve, meths, methanol, |.P.A (alcohols) and to MEK, acetone, cellosolve, acetate (keytones and esters). However, the following solvents should not be used: toluene, xylene, benzene, naphtha (aromatics), “white spirit, petrol, paraffin, hexane (aliphatics), CC, chloroform, methylene chloride (chlorinated solvents). RUBBER ROLLERS ‘As standard the rubber roller will print a width of appx 115mm.
