 Job Title: Paints R&D lab manager (Senior Researcher).
 Department/Division: Research and Development / Paints
 Number of Employees Supervised: 3-5
 Work Location:
 Mainly in R&D Central Lab,

 “Production Plant and QC Lab during production scale execution or

technical support”.

 External customers “end users” workshops if requested or needed.

 Other production plants within Al-Arifi group of companies in Riyadh

or Dammam if requested for Internal Technical Support.

 Hours / Time Commitment: From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. “with 1 hour rest time

from 01:00pm to 02:00pm”

 Job Type: Full Time.


 Length of Appointment: Regular.

2- Job Summary

Managing research and development projects and/or technical support requests,


once initiated till closed through formal documentation to serve company in
alignment with corporate strategy and satisfying all project/technical support
stakeholders.

3- Major Responsibilities

1- Studying study proposals or technical support required, and giving


opinion for project Approval/Rejection:

6- Keeping lab tools, equipments, and instruments in best conditions
available.
7- Other duties are assigned from top management officially.

4- Relationships / Liaison with / Supervisory Responsibilities / Reports to:

 Reports to: Research and Development General Manager.


 Supervisory Responsibilities:
1- Supervise lab team activities.
2- Accountable for results and reports of lab team.
3- Supervise and lead all project team of other departments related to
project in disciplined professional conduct.
4- Managing project/Technical support once initiated and approved till final
acceptance and closure activities including:
a- Documenting lesson learned to OPA “Organizational Process Assets”
repository
b- Receiving final product acceptance by end user after complete selling
of all pilot batch quantity.
c- Transferring ownership of product to both: Sales, QC, Production,
Procurement, Stores, and Financial Departments by delivery the
formal products documents through official communication channels
and proper escalation procedure through R&D GM.
d- Documenting project report.

 Work with:
- Sales, production, quality control, procurement, financial and
planning departments.
 Highest level contacted:
-Team leaders only in other departments, not department
managers.
 Purpose of contact:
- Giving technical support required through official and formal
communication only, verbal communication in few limits and not
accountable.

 Contact outside the Company:
- Not allowed without department general manager supervision.

5- Performance Goals / Work Standards:

1- Giving final opinion in projects study proposal/technical support on


accountable basis.
2- Clearly define and identify Identify requirements for each functional
department including R&D lab requirements.
3- Start creating creation /modification required on BOM “Bill of Material” /WI
“Work Instructions” on SAP.
4- Determine project development approach & methodology with
documentation.
5- Put theoretical formulation framework and starting formula with
documentation.
6- Producing small size prototype and inspection with documentation.
7- Receiving official and formal feedback and documenting in project status
report.
8- Leading of any external departments “Production, and QC” for pilot batch
production of first product delivery / product after modification.
9- Verifying product scope regarding WI “Work Instructions” & QC “Quality
Control” methods to get them trained on verified deliverables.
10- Validating product scope with coordination with sales team to be formally
accepted deliverables.

11- Receiving final product acceptance by end user after complete selling of all
pilot batch quantity.
12- Transferring ownership of product to both: Sales, QC, Production,
Procurement, Stores, and Financial Departments by delivery the formal
products documents through official communication channels and proper
escalation procedure through R&D GM.
13- Documenting project report.

 Physical Conditions:

- Extreme Temperatures, and Dry Weather.

 Hazards:

Explosive Materials hazard, Eye and Skin Irritant Chemicals

 Atmospheric Conditions:

- Fumes, Odors, and Dusts.

7- Tools and Equipments

- Mainly: All R&D lab tools and Equipments.

- Also: all production plant while pilot batch production

supervision under R&D complete authority.
