(LUD: Mar.2018) Page / 2 Author: AVP
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this chapter, you will be able to:
• Know the importance of checking the queue daily
• Apply the entry to display the list of countries and the capital cities
• Display the closest airports of a particular city
• Know the weather condition and the average temperature of a city
• Use the DRS page to get relevant information

OVERVIEW
This chapter aims to provide additional knowledge to the agents which will help them assist their clients
better and manage their bookings in Sabre effectively.

QUEUE
Queue system is a useful resource for managing and servicing the PNR. Its function is similar to an
electronic filing cabinet where messages and PNR that needs immediate action are placed in a specific
queue number. Each queue represents the different drawers in the cabinet and each has its own
function.
• Sabre identifies ownership of the PNR through Pseudo City Code (PCC)
• PNR is placed on a specific Queue number base on the action required such as confirmation,
ticketing deadline or cancelled PNR
• Sabre does not place any PNR on Queue after the first flight has departed or when it is controlled by
a different airline

No warnings
are displayed
when Sabre
places a PNR
on queue

QUEUE PROCESS: STEP 1 – QUEUE COUNT

It is essential part of the office operation to maintain the PNR in queues regularly else, important
information or instructions may be missed which will result to poor service.
Perform the first step to check and count the number of PNR in each queue number.

QUEUE PROCESS: STEP 2 – QUEUE ACCESS
Queue access will bring up the first PNR from the specified queue number into the emulator. This will
allow agents to work on the PNR.
In the previous page, Queue 9 has 161 PNRs that needs attention. The entry below will allow you to
open the queue number.

• The Prefatory Instruction Code (PIC) is a title that appears on top of the PNR. It determines the
message that the system displays at the top of the PNR on queue. The message explains why or
what action needs to be done on the PNR.
• Sabre will display the first PNR with possible deadline in random order. Agents are expected to
take action on whether to issue the ticket prior to deadline or cancel the PNR
• No other PNR can be displayed or created while on queue

QUEUE PROCESS: STEP 3 – UPDATE THE PNR

While the PNR is displayed, agent may update the PNR by doing the following:
• PNR cancellation (X1 or XI)
• Rebooking
• Update the existing deadline
• Auto-update the PNR status
Sample scenario:
When one of the following status
appears in the PNR
(HX, TK, TL, KK, KL, UU etc.)
apply the EWR entry.

Sabre Basic Reservations – Chapter 4: Miscellaneous Information

(LUD: Mar.2018) Page / 6
QUEUE PROCESS: STEP 4 – REMOVE OR RETAIN THE PNR
After the updating the PNR, the agent may simply REMOVE it in the Queue folder if there is nothing to
update or RETAIN the PNR in Queue for future access. The following functions may be performed after
you have worked on the PNR.

FUNCTION FORMAT ENTRY SAMPLE ENTRY

MANUAL QUEUE EXIT (OPTIONAL)

There are situations when you may want to exit from the Queue even before you reach the final PNR.
For instance, a client called and agent needs to open a PNR, you must manually exit from the Queue
since the system does not allow agents to retrieve any booking while you’re accessing the Queues.
The QXI (Queue Exit and Ignore) entry exits the agent from Queue and puts the PNR back on Queue.
Any changes that you made to the PNR are ignored.
