Alessandro Volta's theory

Alessandro Volta in 1799 decided to try to create energy with disks of different types of metals, such as
zinc and copper, to which he added acid. Then Volta could see how a constant electrical current was
created. This chemical reaction between the metals and the liquid in the discs generated a difference in
electrical potential, what we know today as voltage.

metodologia

We insert the screw and the coin into cleaned potatoes without letting them touch. The screw is positive
the coin is negative. We can see that each potato individually generates a voltage of 0.9 but if we
connect the two we manage to get a voltage of approximately 1.5 to 1.8 volts.

objetivos

Demonstrate how it is possible to generate voltage using potatoes as an energy source. (GENERAL)

Explore whether potatoes can generate voltage through an electrochemical reaction when in contact
with metals. (especifico)

Promote the understanding of chemical reactions through the combination of conductive materials and
electrolytes found in potatoes. (especifico)

Resultados

As a final result I was able to get the potatoes together with other materials to generate approximately
1.8 volts.
