2 divides into 35 once = 1
Subtract 1 x 23 (23) from 35 to obtain 12
bring down the next digit (8)
23 divides into 128 five times = 5
subtract § x 23 (115) from 128 to obtain 13
bring down the next digit (2)
23 divides into 132 five times = 5
subtract § x 23 (115) from 132 to obtain 17
There are no more digits to bring down so 17 is the final remainder and can be
written as:
117 or 17
Use short division to divide by - single digits
