Meta Pool Deploys Gitcoin Technology to Support Public Goods

Initiatives in Latin America
Builders in Latin America are presented with the opportunity to acquire funding by applying to the
GG18 LatAm Featured Round

Mexico City – August 1st, 2023 – Meta Pool, an EVM-compatible liquid staking service
available on NEAR, partners with Gitcoin to support fund, build, and protect what matters to
communities in Latin America through the Gitcoin Grants Round 18, with a core LatAm round.

Meta Pool’s liquid staking platform is focused on education and adoption of blockchain
technology, under the themes of Proof-of-Stake (PoS), decentralized governance and operating
systems, as well as improving the overall user experience between NEAR and Ethereum through
their Blockchain Operating System.

Meta Pool and Gitcoin are contributing to a fund together along with other public goods maxis,
like 1Inch. This pool serves as a nexus for multiple projects that can access sustainable funding
in a decentralized way. Staking reward fees from the first 1000 ETH delegated to the Meta Pool
protocol will recirculate to budding builders from the rising economic powers in Latin America.

Carlos Melgar, a Gitcoin Citizen, added: “This joint effort from Meta Pool and Gitcoin supports
educational and common good projects in the Latin American region, which is already a hub for
crypto usage. It’s encouraging to contribute to a campaign that will encourage greater
collaboration and innovation amongst local communities. The more people that understand what
blockchain technology can do for them and how PoS protocols like NEAR and Ethereum allow
individuals to create their own value through liquid staking.”

Meta Pool’s new staking token mpETH will allow anyone to delegate their Ethereum tokens to
support this initiative with Gitcoin, allowing them to get support from the ecosystem to launch
their initiatives from Meta Pool’s all-in-one liquid staking application. The protocol has already
been audited by security firms Halborn and Blocksec, so assets delegated by the community are
under an audited platform. Applications for the GG18 LatAm Featured Round open on August
1st and selected projects will receive the first allocation of proactive funding on September 1st.
