In accordance with your instructions, throughout the last months, I am pleased to submit
to you this Final Project of Architecture Engineering and Design .I am thankful to you
for guiding me in this regard. There are two major objectives behind its study. One is to
teach the basic concepts of Low Cost Housing and the second is to work and learn how a
complete building project should be carried out considering all the aspects. Nothing is
exaggerated, for this report this report to look more attractive. There should be some
shortcomings which the student hopes, would be kindly forgiven.
I wish to express special appreciation to my project advisor Dr. Khizer Hayat who helped
me a lot in compiling and gathering the information for this project. Without there
assistance I would not be able to finalize this task.
Finally I am sincerely thankful to my parents, with there encouragement, co-operation it
was possible for me to devote time for my studies to accomplish this academic mission.

PREFACE

This project report is an assemblage of material based on learning research, finding and
help me in realizing the practical aspects of building design. I deemed this document to
such extent that it could serve as a reference to the successor architectural engineers, both
as a help and as a guide in solving their respective problems. Further, the report has been
designed in such a flow that it guides the reader in a sequential way in order to simplify
and illuminate the aspect given thereby.
The project contains three major parts architectural design, structural, and public health
design of low cost apartments located in WAPDA Town Housing Society Lahore.
The architectural portion revolves around the need and objective of such type of
apartments and strategies that were previously being conducted by various governmental
and non governmental organizations. The section also highlights design criteria and
feature for sustainable and energy efficient housing scheme. I deeply studied about the
problems in the previous low cost apartments and improve my design philosophy.
The structural part is designed to emphasize the importance of economical and safe
structure. It contains the basic criteria for the analysis and design of the structure. The
type of structure used its general characteristics and design procedure would also be
discussed in detail.
The public health design would contain water supply and sewerage design of each
apartment. This would provide a basic understanding how these services are being
executed in a project.
