INTRODUCTION

Greetings, evangelist!

I am pleased to present this SAD School of Evange-

lism coordination manual. Here are practical guidelines
for those who will be at the forefront of the training
program as we improve training pastors to share the
gospel message effectively and relevantly.
This handbook is a valuable tool. It contains a series
of carefully selected topics to assist in the planning
and executing of evangelistic strategies, such as coor-
dination, compassion, connection, cultivation, harvest,
and continuity.
Each topic is discussed in detail in a specific table,
where techniques and practical tips for each stage of
the evangelization process are presented. In addition
to the tables, the manual contains a sequence of de-
votional topics specially selected to cover important
points of public evangelism. These themes range from
the importance of prayer to the need to maintain a
consistent and positive testimony.

At the end of the manual, some forms are presented
for monitoring the evangelism that accompanies the
training of pastors.
I hope the School of Evangelism and the Evangelism
campaign will be a blessing in the lives and ministry of
every pastor. May they all be greatly used to bring the
message of salvation to all those who still don’t know
Christ.

RAFAEL ROSSI
SAD Evangelist

REFLECTION: PAUL AND
PUBLIC EVANGELISM

Paul was one of the most prominent leaders of ear-

ly Christianity, having played a key role in spreading the
message of Jesus Christ in the ancient world. One of the
key strategies he used to spread the gospel was public
evangelism, that is, preaching in open spaces, squares,
and synagogues.
Paul traveled widely in Asia Minor and Europe, estab-
lishing Christian communities in many important cities,
such as Philippi, Thessalonica, Corinth, and Ephesus. In
each of these cities, he used public evangelism as a tool
to attract new converts and strengthen the faith of those
already converted.
The apostle had a passionate and persuasive preach-
ing style, using reason and emotion to convince people to
embrace the gospel. He argued that Jesus was the Messi-
ah promised by the Old Testament prophets and that His
death and resurrection were definitive proof of His deity
and saving power.

•5•

SCHOOL OF EVANGELISM2.indd 5 31/08/2023 13:39:20

When preaching publicly, Paul had to deal with a va-
riety of challenges and obstacles. For example, he faced
resistance and hostility from many Jews, who saw his
message as threatening their faith and traditions. In ad-
dition, he had to deal with the skepticism and unbelief of
many Gentiles, who were skeptical of a new religion and
a new god.
Despite these challenges, Paul continued to preach
with courage and conviction, trusting in the power of the
gospel message to transform people’s lives. He also used
other methods of evangelism, such as letters and person-
al discipleship, to consolidate the work he started in his
public preaching.
Today, Paul’s legacy as a preacher of the gospel is re-
membered and celebrated by Christians around the world.
His letters and teachings inspire and challenge people to
live according to God’s will and to share the gospel mes-
sage with those around them.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF
EVANGELISM

1. How long will the school of evangelism last?

The training will be from Monday to Friday. The evan-
gelism campaign generally lasts a week, from Sabbath
to Sabbath.

2. Who are the teachers?

Field, Union, and SAD evangelists, professors of evan-
gelism from the nearest Theology course university,
and local administrators.

3. Which and how many pastors should participate?

Ideally, each Field should send between three and five
pastors. Priority should be given to young people who
have a passion for evangelism.

4. Why can’t I take all the pastors from my Union or
Field?
We want a smaller group to work better with each pas-
tor, with more quality.

5. Will pastors also do evangelism during the week?

During the week, we have three formats to be adopted:
(1) pastors will follow a model evangelism, being part
of different support teams each night; (2) the pastors
will accompany evangelism points conducted by the
evangelists of the Fields/Union and Division; and (3)
the pastors will have their evangelism points and the
evangelists will make baptism caravans.

6. Where should classes and meals be held?

Ideally, all pastors should stay at the same hotel, where
we will have classes until 12:30 p.m. Then we will have
lunch at the same place. At 3:00 p.m., we will go out
to make visits to the interested ones and give Bible
studies in the houses. For this, it is necessary to count
on the support of brothers and/or biblical workers to
accompany the pastors on these visits.

7. Will pastors receive an evangelism kit?

Yes, pastors will receive digital materials prepared by
the SAD, Union, and Field, as well as support materials

for local evangelism.

8. Will pastors receive a special allowance for evan-

gelism?
To encourage local evangelism, a special allowance
should be given to pastors involved in the School of
Evangelism.

9. What is the purpose of the School of Evangelism?

The main purpose is to help pastors improve in public
evangelism.

10. How many evangelistic campaigns should the dis-

trict pastors who attended the training do during the
year?
At least one large public evangelism movement, using
the missionary strength of the local church, empower-
ing leadership, and awakening local talent. The pastor
who participated in the training may also be involved
in a church planting project.

11. What is the responsibility of the local Field?

The host Field is responsible for finding the best place
for training, supporting the local structure for classes,
and coordinating the evangelistic program in the eve-
ning. It must organize and monitor all steps of prepara-
tion for evangelism and the training of support teams.

12. What is the Union’s responsibility?
This is a project coordinated by the Union, which is
responsible for choosing the host Field and carries on
the program.

13. What is the Division’s responsibility?

The SAD is the project’s creator. It sends the evangelist,
prepares the material, and guides the execution of the
project.

14. What is the part of the district pastor?

He is the main piece. The whole program was made
for the district pastor. He participates as a student and
needs to have or do an evangelism project for his dis-
trict.

15. Where should harvest evangelism be done during

the School of Evangelism week?
According to the local strategy, in a hall, church, gym-
nasium, or amphitheater.

Each Adventist is an evangelist!
