Many people today understand the church as a building. This is not a biblical
understanding of the church. The word “church” is a translation of the Greek
word ekklesia, which is defined as “an assembly” or “called-out ones.” The root meaning
of church is not that of a building, but of people. It is ironic that when you ask people
what church they attend, they usually identify a building. Romans 16:5 says, “Greet the
church that is in their house.” Paul refers to the church in their house—not a church
building, but a body of believers. The church is the body of Christ, of which He is the
head.
The Church can support people who are going through difficulties, whatever
background they may come from.
Often the Church will seek to work with other religious groups to help keep peace and
harmony in the community as religious leaders still have some influence in the areas
that they work in.
The Church is not here to provide a mere pastoral service. It seeks to help people find
and fulfill their God-given identity. The Church helps us see that we are not just mere
creatures living in a senseless world. We are all created in the image and likeness of
God and so each human being deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion.
This belief is an important hallmark of our faith.

It appears our pulpits and Christian platforms are silent when it comes to the
issue of sin and immoral behaviour. When that happens the church is seen more
as “married” to the world, But the scripture teaches us in 1 john 2:15-17 “do not
love the world or the things in the world , If anyone loves the world , The love of
the father is not in him”.
