Give etymology of each solid as a presentation.

 Sphere: The word ‘sphere’ came from Latin word ‘sphaera’ means ‘globe, ball’
 Cone: The word ‘cone’ was derived from Greek word ‘konos’ means ‘spinning top, a
pine cone’
 Cylinder: The word ‘cylinder’ was originated from Greek ‘kulindros’ means ‘roller,
roll, revolve’
 Cube: The word ‘cube’ came from Greek word ‘kybos’ means ‘a six-sided die’
 Ellipsoid: The word ‘ellipsoid’ was a hybrid from Latin ‘ovum’ means ‘egg’ and
Greek ‘oeides’ means ‘like’. Thus ‘ovoid’ means ‘egg-like’.
 Ovoid: The word ‘ovoid’ was a hybrid from Latin word ‘ellipsis’ means ‘a falling short,
deficit: that to which something is missing (i.e. the circle)’ and Greek ‘oeides’ means
‘like’. Thus ‘ellipsoid’ means ‘deficit-like’.
 Rectangular: The word ‘rectangular’ came from Latin ‘rectangular’, equivalent to
‘rectangul’ means ‘rectangle’ and ‘ar’ means ‘of the kind of, belonging to’. Thus, it
gives the meaning as ‘rectangular, pertaining to a rectangle’.
 Triangular: The word ‘triangular’ came from Latin ‘triangularis’, equivalent to
‘triangul’ means ‘triangle’ and ‘aris’ means ‘of the kind of, belonging to’. Thus, it
gives the meaning as ‘triangular, pertaining to a triangle’.
 Pyramid: The word ‘pyramid’ was originated from the Greek word ‘pyramis’ which
had two meanings. The first was ‘wheat cake’ because Egyptian buildings reminded
the Greeks of pointy-topped cakes. Later the Greek word ‘pyramis’ signified a
monumental structure built of stone with a square base, and sloping sides meeting
at an apex. Some people say that the original word came from the Egyptian word for
fire ‘pura’, because a pyramid was shaped like a fire.
 Prism: The word ‘prism’ came from the Greek word ‘prisma’ means ‘something
sawed’. A prism, from its origin, is the shape you would get if you took a saw and cut
off the edges of some other shape.
