2 Designated use and inappropriate use

The centres are intended:

• for 5-axis simultaneous machining of complex workpieces;

• for machining of workpieces clamped from 5 sides at any angle;
• for boring and milling of prismatic and box-type parts of general production
technology.

The workpiece is to be clamped on the workbench or an additional unit in such a way that
it can absorb the static and dynamic forces generated without displacement during the
production process.

The tool meets the general conditions of the industry. It is clamped in the tool holder of
the main spindle provided for this purpose via a standardised interface.

The workroom protection provided by the manufacturer is closed and undamaged.

The user or the operator is familiar with the operation of the whole plant. The complete
contents of the User’s Manual are known and observed.

Any use of the plant which goes beyond this is considered inappropriate. The
manufacturer assumes no liability for all damage resulting from inappropriate use.
Designated use also includes observance of the User’s Manual including all appendices.

Machining centres are intended for cutting metal and cast materials.

Standard versions of machining centres are not suitable for machining magnesium
materials, since these materials require extensive safety measures on the machining.

Cutting off non-chip-shaped workpiece parts of any kind (for example ribs or similar) is
prohibited, as these parts can lead to damage when being removed or when changing
pallets.

Questions concerning inappropriate use, for example as regards other materials, are to
be discussed with the machine manufacturer.

3.2 Warning instructions and signs

3.2.1 General information

WARNING

The machine system is supplied generally without any installations

for fire fighting and pressure relief in case of deflagrations.

When operating the machine in conjunction with machining

processes involving the risks of fire, deflagration or explosion, the
warranty will be null and void for the whole machine and thus any
claims for liability be refused.

Example:

Machine systems in the standard variant are not suited for the
machining of magnesium materials, since these materials require
special safety arrangements at the machining center.

Under no circumstances must oil and/or water-based coolants

be used due to the fire and explosion hazards.

The use of such means will make the warranty for the whole
machine system null and void, and any claims for liability will be
refused.

DANGER

Smoking and any handling of open fire is strictly prohibited in

the interior of the machine and in the immediate working area, since
it is possible that the fire extinguishing system could be activated or
fires could break out in the presence of magnesium swarf.

CAUTION

To avoid personal injury and damage to property, the safety

instructions must be observed.

The machine tool may only be used in technically perfect condition,

observing safety instructions and hazard warnings in accordance with
the User’s Manual.

Faults which impair safety must be eliminated immediately, as

otherwise liability obligations become null and void.

The user may not make any modifications, additions or conversions,

changes to software or equipment which affect the safety of the
machine. This also applies, for example, to the installation and
adjustment of safety devices, incorporation of clamping fixtures in
functional processes and welding on supporting structures.

The user of the machine is responsible for the supervision of correct observance of the safety
