These revised costs will remain in force until further orders. Rounding off of shunting period would continue to be done as per instructions laid down in Board's letter No.TC-1/95/8/8 dt.25.7.1996 ‘Action may please be taken to give due notice to the siding owners before introduction of revised Siding and Shunting Charges. All Indian Railways Sub: Fixation of Siding Charge A clarification has been sought regarding fixation of Siding Charge in the case where average trip time comes out to be part of an hour. 2. The extant practice prevailing over Zonal Railways reveals that there is uniformity in fixation of Siding Charge and the relevant formula used by them is as under:- “Siding Charge = Average trip time in minutes x (Engine Hour Cost = 60)" The resultant of the above formula is rounded off to the next higher value to arrive at the net Siding Charge. 3. _Inview of above, itis clarified that Siding Charge will be fixed on the basis of aforementioned formula after rounding off the resultant to the next higher value. In case ‘average trip time’ is less than one hour, the Siding Charge will be levied for a minimum of one hour. The matter has been examined and it has been decided that Siding Charge of the originating point should compulsorily be collected along with the Freight.
