School/Class : Bogor Raya School/ 1B

The number of students : 12 students
Observer : Mellisa Shovelin Sahetapy
Time : Mathematics session (09.10 - 10.00 WIB)

Observational Purpose
Seeing the behavior of class 1B students.

Observation Method
- Event dan time sampling
- Participant observation: Observer makes observations in class during class hours.

Instruction
Recording will be carried out based on the appearance of behavior, divided to; frequency,
interval, duration and intensity of occurrence of the behavior.
Observations were carried out by the observer for 40 minutes in the classroom.

General description of the class

- The total number of students is 12
- 8 female students, 4 male students
- Student seating is arranged in letter U shape
- Female and male students sit together (not separated)

Notes
All students are sitting and the teacher plays a dance video at the end of the lesson. The
teacher asks all students to stand up, give some distance to follow the dance from the video. All
students got out of their seats but there was 1 male student at the front left still in his seat. Then
the teacher approaches the student and asks the student to occupy another place to dance,
either in the middle or at the back. The student goes back and stands with another female
student. When the dance video was played, all students tried to follow the movements from the
video but 1 male student stood behind dancing in his own style and not as shown in the video.
From the beginning to the end, the dance is different from the other friends who follow the
example of the dance in the video.
After that all students follow math lessons. This student who doesn't dance is named Matthew.
Matthew was seen raising one right or left hand while the lesson was in progress. But not to ask
about the lesson. When the teacher was explaining, Matthew several times arranged the pencils
on top of the pencil case and played with the pencils.
When the teacher gave practice tests, Matthew was able to work on these questions. There is
one female student wearing a pink jacket, sitting next to Matthew who needs to be explained
several times before she can answer the practice questions correctly. When compared with her
friends in the class, these students are quite slow at working on math practice tests.
At the end of class, all students were asked to dance and get out of their seats. All the students
got out of their chairs and stood in the middle of the table but Matthew was still standing in his
seat until the teacher asked Matthew to stand in the back or on the carpet. Matthew danced with
quite different moves from his friends in class.
In class 1B, the observer found 1 student dancing differently from the other students. Therefore
to analyze this behavior further observations are needed.
