Ques 2 For the same previous heat exchanger as shown in figure 1, consider that the
temperature T2 = 190°F is our control objective (i.e., maintain this temperature in the
presence of disturbances). Construct one feedback and one feed forward control
configurations that will satisfy the control objective in the presence of disturbances.
Ques 3 A steam turbine drives a compressor as shown in figure 2, whose load can change with
time. Small variations in the shaft speed of the turbine are controlled through the use
of a fly-ball speed governor. For this system: (a) identify all the external disturbances;
(b) identify all the available manipulated variables. Also determine the basic control
objective and suggest a feedback control system that can be used to satisfy the control
objective.
Ques 4 Figure 3 shows a system of two tanks which are used for the temporary (tank 1) and
longer-term (tank 2) storage of a liquid chemical product. The demand is satisfied
from the temporary storage tank, while tank 2 is used to accumulate the liquid product
in excess of the demand. (a) Identify the external disturbances, control objectives,
measurements and manipulated variables available to you. Is this a SISO or MIMO
system? (b) Develop alternative feedback and /or feed-forward control configuration
to achieve your control objectives. (c) is there any situation that may arise during
which you cannot avoid overflowing of the storage tanks?
Ques 5 If a forcing function f(t) has the Laplace transform
Ques 6 Express the function given in the t-domain and the s-domain
