Modals;

It is one of the auxiliary verbs.

These are use to express the ability, obligation, permissions and possibility.

Examples of modals;

 Shall, should.
 May ,might, must.
 Can, could.

Shall:
 Shall is use for offering someone.

Examples;

Shall I pick your luggage.

 Shall is also use for permission.

Examples;

Shall I open that window.

 Shall is also use for the suggestion.

Examples;

Shall we meet.

 Shall is also use for permission.

Examples;
I shall be at your place in the morning.

Should:
We use should for the expressing laws and, rules.

Examples;

 You should follow the traffic rules.


 You should not use the cell phone in the class.
 You should come in the uniform.

Can/ could:
Both can and could are use to show the ability or lack of ability.

Can;
Can is use for giving the permission or for not giving the permission.

Can is use for informal permission.

Examples;

 I can climb up that mountain, I cannot climb up that mountain.


 She can speak French , she cannot speak French.

May:
May is use for the formal permission.

Examples;

 May I go to drink water.


 May I go to bazaar.
 May I leave the class.
 May I ask a question.
