4 FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH.
Prayer of Invocation,
A LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who
-^ hast made the Church Thy dweUing-
place, and chosen it as Thy rest for ever, and
hast taught us in Thy Word not to forsake the
assembling of ourselves together; regard in
Thy mercy, we beseech Thee, us Thy servants,
who meet this day in Thy holy place. Mani-
fest Thyself unto us, and bless unto us all
Thine ordinances, so that our worship may
prepare us both to serve Thee now, and to
glorify Thee hereafter in Thine eternal king-
dom through Jesus Christ our Lord.
;
The Confession,
O Lord our God, eternal and almighty Father,
we acknowledge and confess before Thy holy
majesty that we are miserable sinners; unable
of ourselves to do that which is good ; trans-
many ways. Thy holy
gressing daily, and in
commandments, and by Thy just judgment
deser\dng of condemnation and death.
We are deeply grieved, O Lord, for having
offended against Thee; We condemn both
ourselves and our sins with unfeigned peni-
tence; We seek refuge in Thy mercy, and
humbly entreat Thee to help us in our misery.

O
God, who hast taught us in Thy holy
Word to be careful for nothing, but in every-

give ear unto our prayer, and attend to the
voice of our supplication.
God of all power and glory, who hast not
appointed us unto wrath, but to obtain salva-

fulfil in us, we beseech Thee, the work of Thy
redeeming mercy. Sanctify us in body, soul,
and spirit, and guide us evermore in the way
of peace. Help us to overcome the world.
Beat down Satan under our feet. Give us
courage to confess Christ always, and patience
to endure in His service to the end; that,
having finished our course with joy, we may
rest in hope, and finally attain to the resur-
