My back was turned to their face making it difficult for me to make

out who I had spent the night cuddling and doing who knows what else
with. Their arms were slender and their palms were soft. The scent of
lavender coated their beautiful skin enticing me with every breath I took. I
felt safe, and at ease, but still had no idea who it was.
With eyes lathered in tears, like a crystallized ocean of
depressing waves, he held onto her quivering hands as she
gasped her final breaths.
Her glistening eyes pierced into his soul.
“You were the first person that - that taught me to feel
love, and to give love. You- you were the first person I –
wanted to hold forever” she said with her hoarse voice as
her body grew weaker.
“I love you Shinko, I (groan) I really do. Thank you for
letting feel what love was, what love is” she continued.
Shinko whimpered and wailed, trying to compose
himself. He forced a smile trying to lighten the setting.
“You always knew what love was. You are love. Your
actions are love. Your words are love. Your love is what
made *me* understand love. So no, thank *you* Macy.
You made me a better person, your love took on the
challenge of a dark and lonely soul. Your love was
powerful enough to change that empty soul into
something beautiful something of worth. You gave me
worth Macy. Please don’t take it away. Don’t go!”
“I’ve known her for so long, yet it feels as though I never
had. Looking back now I realize I never knew who this
girl was beyond her noticeable kindness, bravery and
strength. I never met the rest of her; the vulnerable, the
timid, the flustered, the uncertain. She was unshakeable
and mysterious. If I was given a chance I would go back
and meet those other aspects of her. Befriend them all
and truly understand her. I’ve realized it’s too late now
for me to say what I’m saying, for what is gone yesterday
is never to be graced by the love and affection of what
remains today. I just wish yesterday would’ve taken
longer to come.”
