The root cause of software project performance is presented in this CHAOS Report 2018.

The reports also provide


standard CHAOS data in a variety of formats. As what Henny said in his blog that every two years the Standish
Groups publish a New Chaos Report. In every Reports include classic CHAOS data in different forms with many
charts. Also, you can see Yellow-Red-Green charts like in 2015, The Challenge, failed, and successful project
percentages. In 2018 the report is about the Interval presents the root cause of software project performance. The
highlights of the 2018 CHAOS Project are about the analysis and leadership that makes a project succeed with
winning hand and what makes a losing hand, while in the 2015 CHAOS Report in highlights the new SURF
database to certain information. In 2018 there are five main sections: Decision Latency Theory, Winning Hand,
Classic CHAOS, Factors of Success, and Skills of the Factors of Success. Portman H. (2020)

How we define success has also undergone significant shift. Our newest definition is one of many that we have. Six
distinct success criteria were put into the new CHAOS database: OnTime, OnBudget, OnTarget, OnGoal, Value,
and Satisfaction. OnTime, OnBudget, and OnTarget are our traditional definitions. This indicates that the project
was completed in an acceptable amount of time, within budget, and with a significant portion of the projected
features and functionalities. Our updated definition of modernity is on time, on budget, and with a positive outcome.
In 2015 Chaos Report they break up the Value of large projects and the Value of small projects, also in 2015
CHAOS Report the charts more complex than 2018 since there only few charts in 2018 CHAOS Report. (2015)

In three years, the Charts on 2015 about the Challenges, failed, and successful chart has changed in the past 3 years,
since the industry are growing faster every year. This affects the chart to change its percent. (2022)
