Prof. Hiroo Sono is a senior member of CISG Advisory Council. He was also appointed as Counsellor of the Japan Civil Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Justice from 2006 to 2008. He has many publications and articles relating to Japanese law and CISG.

Mr. Jason Chan worked with the Singapore Government for 8 years as a Judicial officer in the Supreme Court and a Deputy Public Prosecutor. He has previously spoken on the CISG to Singapore legal officers, and was experienced in commercial litigation. Dr. Loan is a former Director of the Vietnam Competition Administration Department Ministry of Industry and Commerce. She is currently a member of VCCIs Advisory Committee on Intl Commerce Policies, and also the Team Leader of CISG-VN research group.

With effect from 01 Jan 1988, the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) has become one of the most widelyrecognized conventions in the world with 74 contracting states, including giant trading states such as the United States of America, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, and Japan. From the time of Vietnams accession into the WTO, international trading volumes of domestic firms have risen significantly. However, Vietnam has not ratified CISG, and most organizations and enterprises know next to nothing about this Convention. This is a severe drawback since the well-known Convention has already brought extensive benefits to enterprises of the contracting states, e.g. reducing negotiation costs, minimizing legal risks, balancing the interests of the buyers and sellers and enhancing their competitiveness and integration to world trade. In a half day seminar named CISG The rule of law, well-known lawyers, scholars, authorities and enterprises will share their experience and perspectives of CISGs benefits to contracting states and lessons for Vietnam. Its objective is to provide Vietnamese organizations with the background of the Vienne Convention 1980 and preparations needed as Vietnam will accede to the Convention in a near future.

Dr. Hang completed a Doctor of Law honours degree at the Tours University (France). She is a lecturer at the Hanoi Foreign Trade University. She is also a member of the CISG-VN research group. Dr. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang is one of the leading Thu Hang researchers of CISG in Vietnam.
Mr. Tony graduated with a distinctive Master of Law degree at UWE, UK with majority in International Trade Law. With 10 years experience in legal & contracting advice for heavy industry, Tony is currently Managing Director of EP Legal and a collaborator with VCCI in CISG.
