Where ℎ𝑐 is the capillary rise and x is the distance travelled by water for time t. Substitute
equation (2) in (1). Then integrate the differential equation. Assume that 𝑥 = 0 for 𝑡 = 0 and
obtain the constant of integration. Then using the equation for capillary rise, obtain the value of
permeability as a function of the radius of the capillary tube if we have the readings for t and x
during the experiment.
