Treće lice jednine dobija nastavak –s . Ako se riječ završava na -o, –ch, –sh, –x, –ss, nastavak glasi –es:
goes, teaches, washes, kisses.Ako se glagol završava na –y i ako je ispred njega suglasnik –y prelazi u –
ie: cries (cry),flies (fly). Ako je ispred –y samoglasnik, nema promjene:plays, stays.

PAST SIMPLE TENSE – prosto prošlo vrijeme (završena radnja, zna se kad se desila)
Prilozi: yesterday, the day before yesterday, two years ago, three hours ago, last Monday,
last year, in 1977 – 1977…
Dodaje se nastavak –ed. Ako se infinitiv glagola završava na –e, nastavak glasi –d: closed.
Ako se glagol završava na –y i ukoliko je ispred njega suglasnik, –y prelazi u –i: cried.
Ako je ispred –y samoglasnik, nema promjene: played, stayed. Postoje nepravilni glagoli (tabela).
