the 3 great waves of immigration:
the first wave : colonial immigration 1680- 1776
the second wave : the old immigrants 1820- 1890
the third wave : the new immigrants 1890- 1930
the first immigration : were the scots-irish potestants from usler , northern irland .
The period's 200,000 german immigrants aroused more opposition than the scots-irish
england sent more 50,000 covicts and perhasp 30,000 poor people as indentured servants
Ellis Island (1892-1954) , where there is a museum which tells the history of the immigrants
they went in America fot to start a new life, to find opportunities for themselves.
