Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) is one of the regions of East Kalimantan that acts as a center for
traditional wooden shipbuilding. One of the shipyards that build traditional wooden ships in PPU is
KUB. Mitra Nelayan Muara Baru. Currently, there are problems with community service partners, in
this case, traditional shipyards and ship owners, namely: Mitra does not have the expertise of
traditional ship measurement to produce line plans from the ship built. During this time, the
technology used in the process of ship building is not based on reference to the design and main size
(principal dimension) of ships as well as in modern ship construction. Therefore, the results of the
construction of the ship do not have documents of the image and the main size of the ship that
should be attached to the identity of the ship when completed or handover from the owner's
shipyard. One of the main sizes of ships that are not calculated on traditional ships made on this
shipyard is gross tonage (GT) so that it is difficult for ship data collection and administrative systems
related to tax, port rent, insurance and docking space. Through this service program, we intend to
conduct ship measurement training and processing ship measurement data to become the main size
data of the ship. The benefits obtained from this training program are the increase in the ability of
the shipyard, ship owner and the community to be able to calculate the main size of the ship that is
built or owned. Shipyard and ship owners will be able to work together with local governments
related to the certification of ship perfection. Programs for the development of quality and
increasing traditional ship production can run in hand, namely by utilizing the main size data of ships
for the performance analysis of traditional ship performance or as a marketing medium.
